HVAC SYSTEMS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL
Aluminium extrusions are integral to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, functioning as ductwork, frame structures, louver blades, damper housings, and thermal management components. Aluminium’s excellent thermal conductivity enables efficient heat transfer, while its lightweight properties reduce installation complexity and support structure requirements. Applications include residential HVAC systems, commercial climate control networks, industrial ventilation, and specialized applications like cleanroom environmental control and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
Typical Aluminium Alloys Used
- 6063-T5/T6 : Standard for HVAC ductwork and louver blades; excellent formability for complex duct geometries, good corrosion resistance in moist environments.
- 6061-T5/T6 : Structural frame components, damper housings, and connections requiring higher mechanical strength.
- 3003 and 1100 : Non-heat-treatable alloys sometimes used for lowerstress components and thermal management fins.
Design Features
- Smooth inner surfaces to minimize air resistance and noise
- Integrated flanges and connection points for modular assembly
- Corrosion-resistant finishes for humid environment applications
- Thermal break designs to minimize condensation and energy loss
Market Outlook : HVAC aluminium component market growing at 7-9% CAGR globally, with India and Southeast Asia expanding 12-15% annually due to urbanization and rising cooling demand.
